Skills
In addition to our core courses above, the Singapore Scout Association also offer competency-based skill courses for leaders who wish to deepen their Scout Craft skills to a higher level. These courses are not compulsory, but would definitely help leaders in sharpening their competence in skills that are synonymous to the Scouts. These courses will be conducted on an ad‐hoc and needs basis. We would encourage leaders to take up these courses. Information on the courses will be available at our website and we will also send out course circulars to schools when the courses are being offered.
First Aid
Standard First Aid & Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) training certification recognised by the National First Aid & Resuscitation Council can be considered for Wood Badge requirements (ie. courses organised by St John and Red Cross). Basic ‘good to know’ training without proper competency assessment will not be accepted.
Venture & Rover Scout Leaders should take up OBS Wilderness First Responder and Sea Scout Leaders should do the Singapore Life Saving Society’s Bronze Medallion/Lifesaving First Aid to ensure greater relevancy.
